Camden Haven’s 'Slice Of Haven 2021' festival canned
It’s one of the biggest revenue drivers for the Camden Haven’s tourism industry, but this year’s Slice of Haven Festival has been canned, again.

News Story Summary:

The cancellation is just another blow for local Camden Haven businesses, still reeling from the March floods.

From the organisers website:

We, the organisers, have our community's safety at heart as we make the decision to postpone Slice of Haven 2021.

We are disappointed for our sponsors, stallholders, our volunteers, and visitors because together we have created an event that thousands of people love dearly.

The health and safety of all in our Slice family come first.

We wish the best health for you, your organisation, family and friends.

The 'Slice Of Haven' festival:

Let us tell you a story of a region struggling to find its identity...

A beautiful place, a region that shares a name with a town west of Sydney and regularly people say, “Camden Haven? That near Picton?” The angst!

How do we put ourselves on the map? It’s a well-guarded secret haven where a few people spend relaxing holidays, fishing, boating, camping – but who are we beyond a little holiday hamlet, a former fishing and timber town? Who are we now?

A small band of volunteers got together with the backing of the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce to pull together an event to showcase the region and celebrate local, produce, products, talents and icons.

Our vision was to develop an identity for the Camden Haven region stage an individual, sustainable and superior gourmet/lifestyle event, provide an experience and an opportunity to showcase

A professional, safe, comfortable, wholesome, festive experience with “a dollop of indulgence and a dash of quirky”.

In 2008 just over 1,500 people supported buying and eating local, seeing what’s on offer on their doorstep.

Not bad for a region of 10,000 people, we thought... in 2012, over 70 stallholders and 16,500 people tasted their “slice” of Haven.

'Slice of Haven' is proudly coordinated, staffed and operated by a committee of volunteers from the Camden Haven Business Community, supported by a paid coordinator in the weeks leading up to the event.
