Peter Brock intros the Monaro
A tale from the days when Australia could still build a world beating car: Internal Dealer video featuring 'King Of The Mountain' Peter Brock introducing the long awaited Holden Monaro in 2001.

The Holden Monaro (/məˈnɑːroʊ/ Mon-AH-ro) was a rear-wheel drive coupé and saloon that was produced by the Australian arm of General Motors Holden from 1968–1977 and from 2001–2005.

Three generations of the Monaro have been produced, with the final generation spawning a limited edition model (CV8-Z) which was the final Monaro model made.

The Monaro's body and platform was used by several different manufacturing brands around the world, seeing export models, various concept cars and, even an all-wheel drive variant.

Holden launched the 3rd generation Monaro in 2001.

The car was available in CV6 with a supercharged 3.8 L V6 supplied with a 4-speed automatic transmission only and CV8 models featuring the 5.7 L LS3 V8, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The Gen 3 - Series 2 model debuted in early 2003 with a revised dashboard from the VY-series, a new wheel design and new colour choices.

The CV6 model was dropped after disappointing sales (reputedly 10 times as many Monaros were built as CV8s) when a Series 3 model appeared in 2004.

The Monaro is still a very very good looking car. It's aged incredibly well. I saw a yellow one yesterday. Hearing Brocky talk makes me cry. Such a loss.

Wow, love Brocky & Holdens. I have a 03 CV8 & never realised it had so many of the features Brocky talked about! It is a tragedy  they are stopping making Aussie Holdens & Aussie Fords.

I have the '05 M6 GTO version, and I loved it the moment I drove it off the lot. It's amazing interior, ride and quiet cabin made it feel like a much more expensive car. I doubt I'll ever sell it.

Panda Last Minute

The vid give so much feeling of Need for Speed high stakes. I love it.
