Video News Story:
Launched from the Kennedy Space Center Florida on July 16, Apollo 11 was the 5th manned mission, and the 3rd lunar mission, of NASA's Apollo program.
A Saturn V launched Apollo 11 from Launch Pad 39A, part of the Launch Complex 39 site at the Kennedy Space Center. It entered orbit 12 minutes later.
After one and a half orbits, the S-IVB third-stage engine pushed the spacecraft onto its trajectory toward the Moon.

I was 11 when Apollo 11 went up. Being at the launch was the greatest thing I ever witnessed. My dad knowing I was a space nut took me and my mom to witness this event. The sound and ground shaking is something I will never forget!!

I was there with 4 college friends.The distant view they show across the water span was my exact view. It was so bright I can't describe it. The water rippled across the bay and the sand on the beach where I was standing literally began bouncing around. Unbelievable. I was lucky to see it
