News Story Summary:
Road access to North Brother Mountain restored:
The best vantage point in the Camden Haven (alright, we'll admit it - the whole mid-north coast) is finally accessible again, after months of careful and considered planning, resulted in the reopening of Captain Cook Bicentennial Drive.
The safety of motorists was always the most important factor in determining the right time for a reopening.
Locals might remember that the slip was compromised several times since the March 2021 floods, and closed in December due to ongoing bad weather.
Geotechnical experts have now given us the all clear to open, and hopefully we'll get good weather so the road can stay open as long as possible until a contractor can be engaged to undertake a full, permanent repair further down the track.
The Council has asked motorists travelling to the summit to please drive to the conditions, particularly at the single-lane section which occupies about 25 metres of road.
Barriers and signs are in place, so please give way and most importantly.
