Donna Loren 'Call Me'
I just had to post this classic ! From 1965, Donna Loren performs the Tony Hatch penned 'Call Me' on the Los Angeles-based teen variety show 'Hollywood-A-Go-Go' hosted by LA DJ Sam Riddle on 25-12-65.
Arranged by none other than Jack Nitzsche and produced by saxophonist extraordinaire Steve Douglas.
Tony Hatch wrote many of Petula Clark's hits including "Downtown".
This record introduced a new, softer vocal style for Donna, which was released by Capitol Records in 1965.
Donna Loren was the one-and-only "Dr Pepper Girl" from 1963 to 1968.
She was signed to a long-term contract with the soft-drink company to sing all television and radio commercials, do all magazine and billboard advertising representing them in every capacity, sometimes sharing the spotlight with American Bandstand's Dick Clark.
This relationship led to her touring in Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars with other popular acts like Diana Ross and The Supremes and singing solos in the popular Beach Party films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon.
Later, she became the regular female vocalist on the popular 60's American live rock n roll TV show "Shindig" and she appeared in singing and acting roles in many iconic TV shows like Batman, The Monkees, Gomer Pyle, The Mothers-In-Law, Red Skelton, Milton Berle and various game shows.
She's released 22 singles, an album and 2 CD's.
Ms Loren is currently back in the studio again making music - Outstanding!

She's certainly got the look. The set's cool. The music's great... and then, that voice. Teeny-boppers should've laid off the bossa nova.
Derek Anthony
I think this arrangement is very pretty, is that a Harpsicord I hear? AWESOME!

Lovely rendition of this song Donna; might just have to call you :)

She has a sweet voice to match her face.
Janice Kociol
To those who say Donna Loren does not have a strong voice, look up her version of "Goldfinger." She had an amazing, powerful voice at a very young age.
Tony Munoz
Why can't we have stars like her today?
Jerimiah Martinez
I grew up in the 80s/90s and knew about this show.

What a very talented and beautiful woman Donna Loren is.
mikeaustin1
Yes she is. I believe she's not that old, more like only about 63-64 (remember, she was about 18 on this video!).
After getting out of the music business, she went back to her other love (clothing design) and had a series of successful boutiques. She's living in Hawaii with her musician husband, and I believe is the mother of three now adult kids. What a gorgeous talent with a thunderous voice!

The song was written by Tony Hatch for Petula Clark.

They were so natural back then.

Actually, you can really boogie to this song. It's not only an "Easy listening" song.

Hollywood a go go? Growing up in the 60s never heard of this. It must of only been syndicated in the California area.
Vincent Ward
She has beautiful features

Wish the video had not faded, you're so beautiful.
