Marta Altesa 'Forget Me Nots'
I can feel something funky coming on ! Marta Altesa is a super talented bass guitarist from Barcelona. This is her Bass cover of Patrice Rushen's Disco / Funk 80's classic 'Forget Me Nots'.

"My name is Marta and I'm 20. I'm a bass player from Barcelona (Spain). I started playing the bass in 2010."

Marta began playing the Bass guitar in 2010 practicing her craft playing over backing tracks of popular songs.

She opened a YouTube channel just 2 years later in August 2012 where she videoed herself playing funky basslines.

She made quite an impression no only with music fans but with the online bass guitarist community. Her account quickly grew followers and has now had over 54 million views.

After her success online she was spotted by the 1990s high flying Jamiroquai an English funk and acid jazz band from London, formed in 1992.

She posted on her Facebook page:

“The guys from Jamiroquai saw my YouTube vids and asked me if I wanted to join them in their shows in Chile, Peru and Venezuela. Unbelievable! Definitely a dream come true”.

Marta has been inactive for a few years now leaving the bass guitar community wondering where she has gone.

Life brings many different challenges for everyone and hopefully Martha is doing well and still playing those bouncy basslines somewhere!

A super gifted musician who has produced lots of great videos with her talents. Maybe in the future, she will return with more, at least for now we have her previous work!

This woman is the definition of beauty.

Marta knows she nailed it, the way she smiles and enjoys playing it.

I'm 60 years old.  I was dancing to that in 1982 in the clubs. Great to see the younger generation keeping the funk alive.

I can't believe I am still enjoying this song like when it first came out, and a young lady who wasn't even born yet, is jamming a base and somehow making it sound better, about 40 years later.

Kenny Evans

The bassline is basically the whole song on this track. The guy who played it had to fight to be given a bigger share of the royalties.

Gorgeous and Talented, a killer combination.

Jack Riedy

this is such a great cover - turns the bass into the lead instrument even more than the original

Ed White

She totally killed this! (meaning she did great) Being a 70's baby I enjoyed every second of this video.  Great performance.

Brilliant, this young lady has soul!!!

Seamus Connolly

This is possibly the best bass riff of all time! Great job in covering it.

Lee Crt

She makes it look easy - and it is not. A real pro, and a delight to watch. Bravo.

Najee Williams

Great job.  Patrice is my cousin and I know she would be proud of what you've done here.
