A$6 Billion Export Trade 'Gut Punch' From 'Friend' China
Australian exporters fear they may soon be hit by a new wave of Chinese sanctions after Beijing banned Queensland timber imports & suspended trade with another Australian grain exporter.

News Story Summary:

Several distributors have also said that wine was not the only target, with shipments of Australian lobster, sugar, coal, timber, wool, barley and copper ore to also be unofficially suspended from November 6, dealing a potential five to six billion-dollar blow to Australia's economy.

The latest trade strike comes as the Federal Government scrambles to save $2 million worth of live rock lobsters stranded on the tarmac in Shanghai. China's Customs agency alleges the lobsters may be contaminated.

Multiple Chinese importers have received verbal directives to stop shipments of Australian wine this week, dealing a blow to a market worth more than a billion dollars last year.

At least four wine importers have been advised by their local distributors to stop importing Australian wine, with Chinese Commerce officials in multiple cities arranging "off-the-record" meetings where phones were banned to relay the new directive.

Australian industry sources have said they have been warned by importers that shipments of Australian wine will not clear customs after Friday.

No Respect:

As a nation, you only get respect when you give respect, and whilst China refers to Australia as being like the 'Gum stuck to the bottom of China's boot', blocks our trade because they don't like what we stand for & lie about our treatment of our Asian citizens, they show no respect for Australia.

China Wants To 'Punish' Australia:

Apparently, we've been a bad Country because we had the audacity to support an international enquiry into the source of the Covid-19 Virus, and because we have confirmed our support for our 70 year old alliance with the USA, an alliance which is seen by China as a blocking move against their expansion.

For the record:

Australia imported goods worth $56.95 Billion from China during 2019.

Australia exports to China totalled $109 Billion so far in 2020.

So, overall, trade with China benefits Australia - BUT

If China is going to penalise us because they don't like what we stand for, then, at the very least, we need to 'level the playing field' by applying tariffs on Chinese imports, in order to recover our lost export dollars.

Is it time to consider the 'Country Of Origin' when purchasing?

Perhaps the 'Made In China' label should now be considered a product warning.

If you can buy a similar product from another country of origin, perhaps you should buy it. Australia might be a small market for China in global terms, but we shouldn't buy anything from any country that does not show us respect.

I can imagine what you are thinking; If we stand up to China will our exports suffer even more?

Consider this: The value of our exports to China came mainly from Iron Ore & Coal sales which represent approx. 75% of total exports to China.

China is now busy in Brazil developing an alternative source of iron ore supply, so given China's track record you can expect that once that source of supply is secured, they will most likely ban Australian iron ore imports as well.

China has also announce it will phase out the use of coal over thenet few years, so bye-bye to that exportable commodity.

Regardless, currently, the Chinese are taking advantage of our 'Free trade / Level playing field' oriented culture, and we are letting them do it.

The Covid-19 crisis has shown us that we can do without Chinese tourism, we can do without Chinese property investment & Chinese students have already been lie to and told Australia is 'Unsafe' - So they won't be coming back either.

China Is Not Our Master:

Yes, we need China to buy or exports, but standing up to China may hurt in the short term, but as they look elsewhere for raw material supplies, we need to learn how to survive and prosper without them.

Ending our dependency on China will be good for Australia.

Doing without China will force us to develop closer trading ties with our real friends in India, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, The Philippines, Vietnam & the other countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

The only thing the Chinese State respects is strength - and Australia looks weak & dependent.

Australia, stop being weak & dependent - be strong. It's time to recover lost export income through tariffs & its time to use our purchasing power to positively discriminate against the Chinese state, as they use their power to positively discriminate against us.

The Chinese people are our friends, the Chinese state is disrespectful to us & is not our friend.
