There has been a fourth COVID-19-related death at the Dorothy Henderson Lodge aged care facility in Sydney. A 91-year-old NSW woman has become the 14th Australian to die after contracting the virus.

The lady was a resident of the Dorothy Henderson Lodge aged care facility in Sydney's Macquarie Park, where three other residents had already died after testing positive for the virus.

BaptistCare, who runs the facility, said it was a "painful loss for us all".

"Words fail to express the deep sense of sadness and grief we are all feeling at this time," CEO Ross Low said.

"I have spoken with the family to express my condolences. My heart and thoughts are with them all, along with the friends and staff who loved and cared for our resident," he said

There have been 18 confirmed cases COVID-19 at the facility, with 13 residents and five employees testing positive.

NSW's death toll now stands at eight, with 1617 confirmed cases including 22 in intensive care.

Of the overall cases, 170 are from community transmission.

From midnight on Saturday, all returning overseas travellers will be quarantined from two weeks in hotels across the country.

About 3000 people expected to arrive in Sydney on Sunday will be assessed by health officials before being taken to hotels, at the cost of the taxpayer.

"They are not criminals. They will be given food and hotel rooms," NSW Police Chief Commission Mick Fuller told reporters.

"I know it is challenging times for those people returning home. They probably just want to come home and lay on their own bed and see their family members, but the reality is that (these are) truly unprecedented times.

"We will treat as people with absolute respect and dignity but we will need their support in terms of understanding."

70 new cases in Queensland

Queensland cases of coronavirus have jumped by 70 overnight to take its total to 625, as the state gets ready to quarantine people returning to from overseas in Brisbane hotels.

Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young labelled the increase "fairly steady", and praised Queenslanders for heeding the advice to stay indoors.

"That is due to all of the fantastic work done by Queenslanders," she said on Saturday morning.

"It is really important that any Queenslander who is asked to go into quarantine, if they are well, or going to isolation if they are sick ... follows that."

Queenslanders returning home and residents of other states passing through will be held in Brisbane hotels from Saturday night, with passengers arriving on international flights placed into quarantine for 14 days.

People transiting the Brisbane International Airport will also be sent to a hotel for the quarantine period.

Health Minister Steven Miles said 1047 people arrived in Brisbane from overseas yesterday, but that was down from about 7000 a week ago.

"That gives you some idea of the number of people that we will be accommodating in those hotels, but we would expect that number to continue to decrease," he said.

"Our hotel sector is well equipped to cope with those kinds of numbers."

Mr Miles also announced that concurrent appointments in the Queensland telehealth system would be boosted from 90 to 1600 to increase treatment of patients at home and in aged care facilities.

"More of our patients will get more of their specialist outpatient appointments from home or from their GP's clinic, avoiding exposing them to the risks of coming to hospital," he said.
