Charles Sturt in Port Macquarie to welcome high school students, parents, guardians and careers advisers for information sessions, workshops, tours and demonstrations.

Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie will soon offer high school students an early glimpse into the advantages and opportunities of studying with the University.

On Tuesday 10 March the University will welcome high school students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to the campus for 'Explore Day', a program of events designed to showcase the courses, services and support Charles Sturt has to offer students.

In addition to career-specific workshops and demonstrations, the day will include campus and accommodation tours, as well as information sessions about scholarships, admissions, academic skills and other aspects of university life.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) Ms Jenny Roberts said Explore Day will give senior high school students, as well as parents, guardians and careers advisers, a taste of life at Charles Sturt.

"The workshops, tours and information sessions will provide the visiting students with invaluable knowledge about courses, study, and life in general at the University," Ms Roberts said.

"Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie has state-of-the-art facilities which support our teaching staff to train job-ready graduates.

"Our graduates enjoy the highest employment rates of all Australian university graduates, and some of the highest average starting incomes, and we look forward to showing the next wave of prospective students why that is."

A key component of the day will be the hands-on workshops, which will be led by teachers and current students, and include overviews of the courses on offer, as well as the chance for prospective students to meet some amazing student ambassadors.

The visiting students can register online for two one-hour sessions in the fields of: exercise and sport sciences, medical radiation sciences, paramedicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, environmental science and outdoor recreation, nursing, teaching and education, social work and human services, creative industries (design and visual arts), accounting and business, criminal justice, policing and law, and psychology.

Manager of Marketing Events at Charles Sturt Ms Katie Trebley said Explore Day was designed to immerse prospective students in everything Charles Sturt, from the classroom experiences and tours to mixing with current students at lunch.

"Charles Sturt University ensures we provide engaging, dynamic and consistent events for our prospective students," she said.

"Explore Day is no exception. The program of events has been tailored to ensure those considering studying with the University will have as much useful information at their disposal as possible as well as giving them a 'real' university experience."

"We look forward to welcoming our visitors to Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie for the event."

Explore Day at Charles Sturt in Port Macquarie will commence at 9.30am on Tuesday 10 March, concluding after the optional campus and accommodation tours at 1.30pm.

Further information can be obtained at the event's website, and people interested in attending are asked to register.
