The impact of fires on the Mid-North Coast has yet to be revealed. It has been confirmed that Willawarrin, north-west of Kempsey, and Bobin, near Wingham, have been badly affected.

Bobin has been called "a town destroyed".

The RFS has confirmed that three people are unaccounted for, following Friday's record-breaking 17 fires burning at emergency level across the state.

Thirty people have been injured, and more than 100 homes confirmed as destroyed in NSW.

Unprecedented bushfires in NSW have claimed the lives of two people, amid fears there could be more fatalities as blazes rage across the state's north and mid-north regions.

One person was found in a burnt-out car in at the Kangawalla fire, near Glen Innes and police are working to formally identify the victim.

A woman who had been discovered by firefighters in the same blaze but in an unrelated incident was treated for burns before being transferred to hospital but has since died, NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said.

Seven people are missing and at least 100 homes have been destroyed in fires which have hit drought-ravaged areas.

More than 70 fires were burning across the state on Saturday morning, 39 uncontained, with five at emergency warning level.

Crowdy fires cause concern, say RFS:

The 'fairly dynamic' bushfire threat is continuing and the exact extent of the number of homes and structures affected are yet to be determined.

Rural Fire Service's district officer Stuart Robb says it is far too early for teams to enter fire grounds to check on damage to infrastructure.

"There are still significant fires on the ground and we are trying to manage getting roads road and people back to their areas," he said.

"We have building impact assessment teams in situ.

"But we need to wait for the fire grounds to be cooler and safer before they can enter.

"Generally, we are tracking okay but the Crowdy fires are a bit of an issue with that southerly change impacting last night.

"The fires had fairly extensive runs under the westerly influence."

The southerly change also created some issues for fires with east to west flanks and crews are now working to shore up those areas, he said.

"We want to get them under control as best as we can under the circumstances," he added.

Mr Robb said he was not aware of any evacuation call for Byabarra, adding that the RFS had also not been made aware of any infrastructure (bridges) that had been impacted at this stage.

Wauchope gig to be rescheduled:

Fiona Joy Hawkins - 17 hours ago

Sincere apologies. Sunday's concert is cancelled. We made the decision because there are too many fires, too many road closures and further to that, both Becky and I are stuck and can't even get there (as of today Friday) so calling it off now gives us time to let everyone know - if we wait till tomorrow it will be too late and there is no sign of reprive from the wind - the fires are dire!!!! If you purchased tickets, please contact the Wauchope Arts Centre. We will re-schedule when things settle down. xxx
