Jesus And Mary Chain 'Head On'
Voted the "Coolest Band Ever","Head On" is a classic dream pop guitar rock track penned by Jim Reid & William Reid of the Scottish indie band 'Jesus & Mary Chain' for their 1989 hit album 'Automatic'.

The ultimate driving song from the coolest band ever?

The 'The Jesus and Mary Chain', considered by many  to be the coolest band ever - released this dream pop guitar rock track in seven different formats, including four 7" singles. One 7" single was released per week, and one of them included a cardboard box to house the full set.

Although the single only peaked at #57 in the UK,[2] it peaked at #2 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in the US. In Australia, the single peaked at #102 on the ARIA singles chart.

The song has been covered by several other groups, most notably the American alternative rock band Pixies on their fourth studio album, Trompe Le Monde.

This video has been called the junction of goth, grunge, surf, industrial and classic alt. This song never gets old! It just rocks so freakin hard!

I met the singer of this band, Jim Reid, backstage at one of their later shows (1998). He was exactly as expected - all quiet and weird.

Randall Hunt

It’s a bummer this band didn’t get the recognition in America like they should of. So underrated it’s crazy! These guys paved the way for bands like Pixies, Sonic Youth, Radiohead and The Dandy Warhols.

JD pitmint

id like to thank the pixies for not ruining this tune.

Alex Olvera

I'LL NEVER FIND A WAY TO PLAY THIS AS LOUD AS I REALLY WANT TO........!

Saw them open for Depeche Mode at Meadowlands Arena in the 80s. It was one of the best concerts I've been to.

This song sounds like it could have come out last week. But it's 30 years old. Still fresh at 30.
