Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams today announced the NSW Government will provide $10,200 for a Regional Sustainability Expo and Showcase in March

“The Government’s funding will support the Port Macquarie Hastings Sustainability Network’s event which will bring together a broad cross section of stakeholders from government, utilities and business sectors focusing on a number of sustainability issues,” Mrs Williams said.

Spokesperson for the Port Macquarie Hastings Sustainability Network, Dr Nigel Urwin said, “The Network is a group composed of local people who champion various aspects of sustainability. The event will be auspiced by Charles Sturt University (CSU). It is sponsored by Port Macquarie Hastings Council, The Holiday Coast Credit Union, Charles Sturt University (CSU Green), JR Richards, 360green and the NSW Government through a ‘Back to the Track’ grant.

“The expo will have multiple themes including Food, Climate, Transport, Social, Land Management and Waste Management.

“The primary aim of the showcase and expo is to educate people and to facilitate interaction between all with an interest in sustainability, which is key to improving the environmental health and economic growth of our beautiful region,” Dr Urwin said.

Minister for Racing Paul Toole said regional and country racing forms a key part of the social fabric in local communities.

“Through the Back to the Track program, the NSW Government is investing $400,000 in regional thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing so it can build on these key connections at a grassroots level,” Mr Toole said.

“We want country racing to thrive and attract people who may have never been before to help ensure a sustainable future for clubs across the three codes.”
