Parents can use one voucher for every school-age child per year to help meet the cost of structured creative and cultural activities, such as music lessons, languages, coding, drama and theatre, photography and graphic design.
This program compliments the hugely popular Active Kids voucher and for a family with two children, Creative and Active Kids combined will save you $400 a year.
Last year’s Active Kids program was enormously successful with families across NSW saving more than $54 million in children’s sport, fitness and recreation activities.
More than 6,300 school children in the Port Macquarie electorate are among those across the State eligible for the NSW Government’s $100 Active Kids program in 2019.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said the program has been a huge success locally with our area having the highest take up rate on the North Coast ahead of Ballina which came in at seventh place.
“All parents with school aged children will continue to receive assistance with sporting and fitness-related costs.
“The NSW Government has made it a priority to reduce childhood overweight and obesity rates and now almost half of all school enrolled kids are enjoying the benefits of exercise.
“I am not surprised that Active Kids is so popular locally, given we are such a sports loving community,” Mrs Williams said.
The top 10 sporting activities include football, netball, rugby league, swimming, dance, multi-sport, basketball, gymnastics, rugby union and AFL.
Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said parents can apply for the Active Kids rebate again in 2019 by registering online to receive their $100 voucher to go towards membership expenses and fees.
“Active kids are happy and healthy kids and this program means that every child in the State has the opportunity to be fit and active,” Mr Ayres said.
Active Kids supports the Premier’s Priority to reduce overweight and obesity rates of children by five per cent over ten years.
