New Macksville Hospital - works underway Works are underway for the new $73 million Macksville hospital!

The contractor to lead the project has been announced as the major Australian construction company, Hansen Yuncken, and already, major earthworks have begun on the 'greenfield' site, three kilometres north of the Macksville CBD.

Hansen Yuncken has offices in Newcastle, and has completed numerous large-scale projects in the health sector, including the Dubbo and Wagga Wagga Hospital redevelopments. As many local sub-contractors as possible will be used on the Macksville site.

Once complete, the Macksville hospital will enhance patient care, and improve ambulatory care and outpatient treatments. The project includes an emergency department, inpatient units, operating theatres, maternity services and community and allied health facilities.

The Project Team, including Mid North Coast Local Health District and Health Infrastructure, has consulted with clinicians, community representatives and other stakeholders to ensure the hospital meets the community's needs. Expect to see a lot more activity at the site in the new year!
