Splendour In The Grass has cancelled its 2024 festival.

Kylie Minogue, Future and Arcade Fire were due to hit the stage for the mid-winter weekender this year, with artists like Turnstile, Angie McMahon, Baby Gravy (bbno$ and Yung Gravy) Middle Kids, girl in red and more filling out the bill.

The Splendour team confirmed the sad news on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon (March 27), citing "unexpected events" as the reason the festival will no longer go ahead this year.

"With a heavy heart, we're announcing the cancellation of Splendour in the Grass 2024, originally scheduled from Friday 19 July to Sunday 21 July in Ngarindjin / North Byron Parklands," the statement read.

"We know there were many fans excited for this year's line-up and all the great artists planning to join us, but due to unexpected events we'll be taking the year off. Ticket holders will be refunded automatically. We thank you for your understanding and will be working hard to be back in future years."

Secret Sounds co-CEOs Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said they are "heartbroken" to be cancelling the 2024 edition of the festival after more than two decades of parties in the Northern Rivers region.

"This festival has always been a huge community effort, and we'd like to thank everyone for their support and overall faith," they said in a statement.

"We hope to be back in the future."

Tickets will be automatically refunded to everyone who had already bought their Splendour In The Grass passes.

Splendour is the latest major festival outside of capital cities to cancel for this year, with Groovin The Moo previously pulling the pin only a couple of weeks after announcing its own line-up.

Falls Festival - which is also presented by Splendour's Secret Sounds team - also cancelled its 2023 edition after 28 years to "Rest, recover and recalibrate".
