A family of eight are lucky to be alive after a mass rescue at Port Macquarie’s Town Beach late yesterday afternoon.

Lifeguards responded to a mass rescue at 6pm yesterday evening at Town Beach. Eight people ventured beyond their abilities near a rip with some of them going under water. 

Lifeguards were able to save all eight people and provide oxygen therapy to one while awaiting Paramedics, who was then taken to hospital due to water inhalation. 

This was an incredible effort and outcome!

Lifeguards are urging people to swim, at a patrolled beach.
