My bloody valentine 'Soon'
'My Bloody Valentine', the legendary Irish-English Dream-Pop rock band, formed in Dublin in 1983 featuring Kevin Shields, Colm Ó Cíosóig with Bilinda Butcher and Debbie Googe on bass.

1987 : Founding member David Conway departure the band - New lead vocalist needed.

Shields, Ó Cíosóig and Googe advertised in the local music press for a new singer.

Bilinda Butcher, whose musical experience consisted of playing classical guitar as a child and singing and playing tambourine "With some girlfriends for fun," had learned that My Bloody Valentine needed a backing vocalist from her partner, who had met Ó Cíosóig on a ferry from the Netherlands.

At her audition, she sang "The Bargain Store," a song from Dolly Parton's 1975 album of the same name.

She was invited to join the group as a lead vocalist & it was game on.

Creation Records and "Loveless":

Released in November 1991, "Loveless" featuring "Soon" was rumoured to have cost more than £250,000 and bankrupted Creation Records, claims that Shields has denied.

Critical reception to Loveless was nearly unanimous with praise.

In the case of the bands sound, ‘Soon’, surface-level extravagance quickly gives way to brilliance.

Every second of ‘Soon’ is a triumph.

From the opening snatches of faraway drum-machine sound effects through to the washes of guitar raining down on the massive fade-out, this is early-1990s indie at its absolute peak.

This band has been an integral part of my life for over a decade now. Fell in love with them after listening to Isn't Anything when I was 15, and I'm 26 now. This band means so much to me, as I'm sure it does to millions around the world. My Bloody Valentine, it's good to have you back.

The only problem I have is that it's the short version. This song deserves to be heard in it's full seven-minute glory. all of what’s happening today feels like a new release, not sure why

That first tremelo bar dive makes me feel like no other piece of music I've heard. Giddy, nauseous, ecstatic .......A bonafide masterpiece of a song. X

@optomix3988

I used to listen to this album all the time in the art studio in college.  Those were good days.

Imagine flipping to MTV late at night in 1991 and seeing this shit.

Those dual guitar bends, melting into a wall of sonic bliss, driven by skipping drums and purposeful bass...

Such an epically unique cool wall of undulating, swirling distorted guitars. First time I heard this band was 6 months after the release of Loveless. It was 2am and I had acid a few hours prior. I still recall the little neon green triangles swirling around each other like two snakes engaged in a dance. Just a few days ago, I was listening to a Jordan Peterson podcast where he was talking to Richard Dawkins. At one point, Peterson makes the argument that hallucinogens enable the user to access the physiological micro level of our bodies. So what I saw, he saw as well. Peterson said he's taken heroic doses of magic mushrooms 3 times, and he observed what I did,  a visual imagery of our coiled double helix DNA.

musicharrygiles

this album helped me survive the past year

Bilinda is an absolute GODDESS!!!

This is without doubt the greatest album ever made. As far as I'm concerned. And a far as you should be concerned. But if you're not concerned then that's no problem. Have a great day

The band that came and left to soon. But left a lasting impression on everything. Billy corgan was massively influence and used there guitar sound.  As Kurt said better to burn out than fade away.

I’ll live my life for this song

sarawhiteside4024

My heart my 50 year old heart - how I love this band, how many moments of bliss they gifted when gigs were everything & guitars roared and swooned. Come back to live, soon

msmeyersmd8

The most addictive song I've ever heard. In my best friend's BMW convertible at Toad Suck Park, Arkansas. A long time ago. On another planet. In another Parallel Universe. In another life. My ear up to the car speaker. Over and over. Wall of sound guitar. Bilinda Butcher. That feeling has never left me.

Probably the best song ever made
